Get ready to flashback to an era in time and place known as kindergarten, a location that had allowed you to experience and utilize a craft acquired when we were still protected from a grownup world. Our latest adventures have provided a virtually ‘full circle; opportunity to experience an ability acquired during that special time. Who knows’, something which can only be shown through the combination of hands on and repetition, might eventually end up having you recognized as one of the worlds’ greatest kindergarten stay inside the liners.

Once again we have our couple of fifty years together as of this year, individuals like us with a sense of humor all their own. Not only are they likewise sharing the same interests, only now the great-grandchildren are starting to arrive, but the wit that has helped to bond them together just seems to keep on growing with each passing year. George is much the same, as is Rose, both being fictitious names the wife and I have a fondness for. The prior unprepared for collision now years behind us, we will once more willingly share with you more of our often true rib-tickling moments. And once again, if you should somehow see in this fictitious couple a little bit of yourselves or even someone you know, then it is only because all of us in probability also exist together. So once more, sit down to help make yourself comfortable... a glass of your favorite within reach also couldn't hurt. Maybe even putting your feet up will help us to get ready as before while preparing to pick sides from where we left off in book number one. And hopefully, as has been pointed out to us on more than one all-too-often occasion, we shall relate for you not only our latest hopefully rib-tickler, but maybe, as we have come to believe now, even yours.

Download or read book When Worlds Collide written by T. Max Friesen and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2013-05-16 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interactions between societies are among the most powerful forces in human history. However, because they are difficult to reconstruct from archaeological data, they have often been overlooked and understudied by archaeologists. This is particularly true for hunter-gatherer societies, which are frequently seen as adapting to local conditions rather than developing in the context of large-scale networks. When Worlds Collide presents a new model for discerning interaction networks based on the archaeological record, and then applies the model to long-term change in an Arctic society. Max Friesen has adapted and expanded world-system theory in order to develop a model that explains how hunter-gatherer interaction networks, or world-systems, are structured—and why they change. He has utilized this model to better understand the development of Inuvialuit society in the western Canadian Arctic over a 500-year span, from the pre-contact period to the early twentieth century. As Friesen combines local archaeological data with more extensive ethnographic and archaeological evidence from the surrounding region, a picture emerges of a dynamic Inuvialuit world-system characterized by bounded territories, trade, warfare, and other forms of interaction. This world-system gradually intensified as the impacts of Euroamerican colonial activities increased. This intensification, Friesen suggests, was based on pre-existing Inuvialuit social and economic structures rather than on patterns imposed from outside. Ultimately, this intense interacting network collapsed near the end of the nineteenth century. When Worlds Collide offers a new way to comprehend small-scale world-systems from the point of view of indigenous people. Its approach will prove valuable for understanding hunter-gatherer societies around the globe.

This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert A. Heinlein: In Dialogue with his Century: 1948-1988 The Man Who Learned Better: The real-life story of Robert A. Heinlein in the second volume of the authorized biography by William H. Patterson! Robert A. Heinlein (1907–1988) is generally considered the greatest American science fiction writer of the twentieth century. His most famous and widely influential works include the Future History series (stories and novels collected in The Past Through Tomorrow and continued in later novels), Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress—all published in the years covered by this volume. He was a friend of admirals, bestselling writers, and artists; became committed to defending the United States during the Cold War; and was on the advisory committee that helped Ronald Reagan create the Star Wars Strategic Defense Initiative in the 1980s. Heinlein was also devoted to space flight and humanity's future in space, and he was a commanding presence to all around him in his lifetime. Given his desire for privacy in the later decades of his life, the revelations in this biography make for riveting reading. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book 2.0 is the second collection of public methodology white papers from the ISA-95/MESA Best Practices Working Group. The methodology white papers focus on applying the ISA-95 standards to accelerate the adoption of Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems and the Manufacturing 2.0 Architecture (Mfg 2.0) approach. There is a focus on how to build a Manufacturing Transformation Strategy where manufacturers discover that using MOM systems combined with continuous improvement methods dramatically accelerate transformation and time-to-benefit. The business benefits from optimizing operations are realized by structuring plant workflows in ISA-95 models as a common definition foundation for Mfg 2.0 architecture. This enforces effective data structure, definition, integrity and governance across manufacturing applications. Book 2.0 explains how to implement ISA-95 workflow applications in Mfg 2.0 to execute operations tasks through the MOM and physical process levels while coordinating them to streamline plant operations and align those operations with ever-changing supply chain processes.

Book excerpt: Heck challenges the conventional wisdom that the Wahhabi movement or classic Islamic doctrines are the root causes of terrorism in the Middle East. Instead, he argues that modern Middle Eastern terrorism stems from aborted efforts by Western intelligence agencies to co-opt political Islam as an opposing force against other emerging global ideologies deemed more politically dangerous at the time. The greatest chance to neutralize these fringe elements lies not through the imposition of Anglo-American democracy but in the creation of constructive economic development programs that ensure the distribution of wealth to the economically disenfranchised.
