GOT BIBLE QUESTIONS is a new book series that will address these types of difficult Bible questions. GOT BIBLE QUESTIONS will get at what the author meant by his words. See the Table of Content and discover what verses and Bible difficulties we have dealt with in volume 3.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does Scripture exclude women from full participation in all forms of Christian ministry simply on the basis of gender? What insights can the church’s “rule of faith,” theology, Scripture, Christian history, and testimonies give women and men exploring this important issue today? In many Christian congregations and college classrooms, debates over the ordination and ministry of women create hurtful and debilitating divisions among believers. This new book by Shannon Smythe leans into those inhospitable places by inviting readers into a process of discernment that intends to lead them, and women especially, into a fresh awareness of their sacred calling to a ministry of the gospel. In Women in Ministry Smythe presents a carefully curated collection of thoughtful answers to common questions asked by those investigating this topic, inviting them to share in the communal practice of studying scripture together in dialogue with the church’s theological traditions and the testimonies of faithful women. Readers are asked to reflect in deeply personal ways upon the truth they have found in their study, which then enables the Spirit to direct (or redirect) them forward in the ways of God.

Why doesn’t God seem to care what happens to me? It is human nature to have a multitude of questions swirling around in your mind. Sometimes you wonder if asking these questions about God, the Bible, and our world show signs of unbelief or doubt. Or maybe you wonder if there is any point in asking questions of God at all. 365 Questions for a Woman’s Soul asks the deep questions for which our souls long for answers. Some of these questions can be clearly answered from the pages of Scripture. Other questions do not have tidy answers, but by wrestling with them in relationship with God’s Word, we can gain perspective, wisdom, and a better understanding of who God is and why he allows events to unfold as they do.

He provides parents with teaching strategies that will help them reach their children intellectually and spiritually. Today’s kids and teens are looking for authenticity, integrity, and straightforward truth. Alex comes alongside parents and gives them tools to effectively answer not only their children’s toughest academic questions but also the questions that plague their hearts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 40 Questions About Women in Ministry charts a course for understanding differing views on the topic regarding the ministries of women. The accessible question-and-answer format guides readers to specific areas of confusion, and authors helpfully zero in on the foundations of varied beliefs and practices. Edwards and Mathews cover interpretive, theological, historical, and practical matters such as: -What did God mean by the woman as man's "helper"? -How is it that Christians reach different conclusions about 1 Timothy 2:11-15? -How did Western culture influence the role of women in society and the church? Combining a strong adherence to Scripture, vast academic and ministry experiences, and a commitment to Christ-honoring dialogue, 40 Questions About Women in Ministry is a valuable guide to pastors, ministry leaders, church groups, and seminarians. "Based on extensive research, the authors present various viewpoints fairly and clearly, and offer concise explanations to equip readers to draw their own conclusions on these pressing questions." --Lynn Cohick, Provost/Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor of New Testament, Northern Seminary "Raise the topic of women in the church and the roles they have and you better be prepared to have your blood pressure checked along with the person you are talking to about the topic. Here is a book that calmly lays out the view's pro and con for the array of options the topic yields. It does so evenhandedly." --Darrell Bock, Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies, Executive Director for Cultural Engagement for The Hendricks Center, Dallas Theological Seminary

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bathsheba is a mysterious and enigmatic figure who appears in only seventy-six verses of the Bible and whose story is riddled with gaps. But this seemingly minor female character, who plays a critical role in King David's story, has survived through the ages, and her "afterlife" in the history of interpretation is rich and extensive. In Bathsheba Survives, Sara M. Koenig traces Bathsheba's reception throughout history and in various genres, demonstrating how she has been characterized on the spectrum from helpless victim to unscrupulous seductress. Early Jewish interpretations, Koenig argues, highlight Bathsheba's role as Solomon's mother and adviser, while texts from the patristic era view her as a type: of sinful flesh, of the law, or of the gentile church. Works from the medieval period depict Bathsheba as a seductress who wants to tempt David, with art embellishing her nudity, while reformers such as Luther and Calvin treated Bathsheba in a generally critical light as indiscreet and perhaps even devious. During the Enlightenment period, Koenig claims Bathsheba was most frequently discussed in commentaries that used historical critical methods to explain her character and her actions. Koenig then demonstrates how Bathsheba is understood in today's popular media as both seductress and victim, being featured in novels, films, and in music from such artists as Leonard Cohen and Sting. The minor, enigmatic biblical character Bathsheba, Koenig writes, has survived through time by those who have received her and spoken about her in varying ways. Though she disappears from the biblical text, she resurfaces in thought and study and will continue to survive in the centuries to come.
